A Birthday Giveaway!

The Genesis Tree is turning one!

It’s been a fun ride with the Larcens and it’s not over yet. Well . . . don’t misunderstand me, I’m not implying that I’m working on a sequel.

Not yet, anyway.

But I am excited to see that this third book in The Tethered World Chronicles has become a finalist in two contests so far (still waiting to hear from two more!). So, after all of the fanfare of a new release, it’s satisfying to see my book baby find a measure of success as it toddles into the literary world. That’s why the ride isn’t quite over 😉

But–regardless of what a judge may or may not like about my story–it has been MOST satisfying to hear back from you, my readers, and learn how the story has impacted YOU.

There have been tears. Many. Tears. I’ve actually felt guilty after hearing the reactions of some (but by the end of the book, I’ve also been forgiven for the things I’ve put my characters through!). The book has been flung across the room in disbelief and frustration. Mothers have sent pictures of their kids crying (talk about ripping my heart out!). Thankfully, they appreciated that a story had such an impact on their kiddos and they, also, were forgiving.

So far I haven’t scarred anyone for life. That I know of.

But I just realized that The Genesis Tree is having its book birthday tomorrow, June 1st! Which means I need to give away some presents to celebrate 😀 Wanna join the party?

Answer me this…if I were to write a sequel to The Tethered World Chronicles, what direction should I focus on? A prequel to the books that focuses on another family or the dynamics between the creatures? Sadie and Xander? Maybe a leap farther into the future with the three younger siblings, Sophie, Nicole, and Nate?

If you haven’t read any of my stories, that’s okay! You can still participate by leaving a comment about how you feel when an author adds more books to what had once been a complete set. For instance, should J.K. Rowling add more books to her Harry Potter series?

In one week, I will draw a winner to receive an autographed set of my trilogy OR a $15 Amazon gift card.

Before you go…check out the OTHER prizes I hope to give away, as mentioned in this past post. By way of an update, we are getting close to the Bookbub giveaway (66 followers as of yesterday)! I’d love to see the other numbers continue to grow so I can give away all of the prizes.

Ready. Set. HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY!!!

  1. Heather, while at my son’s baseball game, some of us parents were discussing what we were reading and/or our to-be-read list. Your name came up and this link was shared. (Thanks, Cindy!) I am super excited to try your books. They have been bumped up on my tbr list and as soon as I can get my hands on them, I will begin. Happy birthday!!

    1. Hi Missie! I’m excited to meet you and my day has been made to hear your story. Thank you for sharing it! It certainly warms my author heart to know my books are being discussed and shared (thank Cindy for me too!). May I ask what state you live in? Funny…when I saw your last name on my notifications, I did a double take. I’m hosting a short story contest using a sketch from a mysterious man by the name of Harris Burdick. Have you ever heard of him? Here’s a link to my post about him if you’d like to learn a little more. Perhaps you’re actually related and this decades-long mystery may be solved! http://www.heatherllfitzgerald.com/2018/02/14/im-hosting-short-story-contest/

  2. I haven’t read any of your books, but I need to get back into fiction. I’d love to win this set!

If Jan Karon wanted to add anything to the Mitford series, I would be thrilled!

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I believe you’re the second person to mention that series to me recently—I’ll have to check it out 🙂

  3. Hey Heather, so excited for you!! I haven’t yet had the opportunity to read these yet, but it is on my list. I like to read them as a set just because I hate to wait..As far as the next book, I tend to be partial to prequels. I like to get into the background and histories. Good luck

    1. Great to hear from you, friend! I like your perspective on getting into the history of stories. Hope you’re doing well. Is it unbearably hot there yet? Summer has definitely arrived in Texas 🙁

  4. Happy Birthday, Genesis Tree! <3 And congrats on it being a finalist!
I would love more of Sadie and Xander. 😀 But I also love the idea of the younger siblings getting their own stories too!

  5. I’m in the middle of The Tethered World, and loving it! A prequel sounds pretty fun, but I have a ways to go in the series! Looking forward to getting through all 3 books!

  6. Ooh yes a prequel would be incredible! I want to know more about the Nephilim and the dwarves and the gnomes. I want to know more about Xandar and also more about all my gnome friends. There’s so much you can do and so many questions to answer!

  7. OMG both are such good ideas but I think I’d really like to see a prequel would be really good.

  8. This is such a great set if stories. I hope that the other two will eventually come out on audio book, but until then reading will have to do,

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the audiobook! I’m addicted to them myself. If the first one had sold more, maybe we would’ve been able to do the others. Thanks for plodding along the old fashioned way!

  9. I love the idea of adding to the series! I agree with other comments, either a big jump to the past or the future would be very cool. I’m thinking of Fantastic Beasts or what they’ve done with Star Wars, etc. We’d read anything you wrote in a heartbeat. My resident red-head recently gave all her toy animals and dolls the last name Larcen. I mean.

  10. Yes, more books in the series!!! Prequels, sequels, younger siblings, all of it!!! I love this award winning series!!! Congratulations, Heather!!!! Thanx for the giveaway!!! You are the best!!!!

  11. I haven’t read this trilogy (but given your readers’ reactions, I must admit I’m intrigued), so I’ll have to confine my comments to general observations.

If a series is complete, but the author wants to continue writing in the same world (and/or with the same characters), I think I’d like to see future books focus on and develop secondary characters (assuming a secondary character is interesting enough to warrant his/her own book). And if it fits in the story, the main characters from the original series could have cameo appearances to help anchor it.

  12. I’d love to see a book with older Nicole and Nate. I think it would be interesting to see them figure out their family secret, and the creatures below.

  13. My first thought when you mentioned potential sequels was a spin-off featuring Sophie. But something with Nicole & Nate (as they get older) would be very interesting too! I don’t mind when an author adds to a “completed” series so long as it doesn’t undo what was previously done. When the story feels complete, and then a new sequel says “nope – more turmoil for these characters!” I feel tricked. But if it’s new characters, and we get glimpses of how the old ones are doing, then it’s fun and nostalgic.
