Realm Makers and Memory Makers!

I’m baaaack!

Our kind heavenly Father–who knows the beginning from the end as well as the temperatures in Texas at any given point–allowed me to go on vacation in Missouri with my mum while temps at home hovered at 115 with a heat index of over 120. OUCH!

Mum and I enjoyed temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s as we explored St. Louis and Branson. We were both so thankful for the pleasant weather and green landscape, not to mention the hills of the Ozarks and evergreen trees which reminded us a little of our beloved Pacific Northwest.

My sweet Mum and I enjoying the banquet!

Our visit to St.Louis included a stop at the Realm Awards banquet, during the Realm Makers Writers Conference. Though I did not get to attend the actual conference this year, I was honored to be a finalist in the fantasy category. The Genesis Tree did not win, but it was a blast to be there and meet so many friends whom I had only known through cyberspace! This was also a costume party which meant there were absolutely amazing costumes that were–quite literally–out of this world!

The Angel of the Lord!
Such an honor to be here! (No, I’m not wearing a mask…that’s the projected image across my face. The book on the far right, “The Songweaver’s Vow”, was the winner, by the way!)

Realm Awards finalists and winners.

My goal is to attend one conference per year. This year I’ve chosen the Oregon Christian Writers Conference in August since I get to visit my daughter, my friends, and my beloved PNW while I’m there. Next year I plan to attend Realm Makers (although I’m sure the PNW will be calling me back, so…).

Loved getting to meet these dear friends (and talented authors!) at the banquet!

But I certainly loved what I saw of Missouri! The people were extremely friendly and there was so much to do! I’m definitely checking out the City Museum next time I’m there (not a place for my cane-toting mum!). From the German architecture to the National Tiger Sanctuary, we had fun exploring this lovely state. Have you ever been to Missouri? What else is a “must-see” for my next trip?

One of my favorite friends that I seem to run into wherever I go!
This guy said his name was Merlin…but I think it might be Aslan!
We enjoyed a scenic train ride into the Ozarks!

  1. So glad that you had an amazing time, Heather! I was SO EXCITED when I saw your book up there as one of the finalists – even though I was already prepared to see it ;D. Super bummed that I didn’t run into you at the banquet, but perhaps next year? 😉 Congrats again on your book being one of the finalists!! <3 <3 <3

  2. How cool! So glad you got to experience at least some of the conference and meet some friends! 🙂 So proud of you for being a FINALIST! 🙂 Much love to you! Can’t wait to see what comes next!

  3. I’m glad you enjoyed the banquet – and escaped that heat! Eep! It was so great meeting you too!
The conference is at the same place next year – I definitely hope to go again but we will see.
